We hear a lot about LDL the cholesterol that we want to keep under control. You don’t want it to raise too much.
HDL is the good cholesterol. The one with the white hat. You want to be sure that it is high enough. This can be hard to do with the modern lifestyle, but there are ways to accomplish our goal.
HDL: level that’s around 50 to 60 mg/dl is a good target to shoot for.
One of the best ways is with exercise. This will get us in shape physically and help us shed pounds if needed.
Fish and fish oil such as krill oil will help to keep your HDL in great shape. The omega-3 fatty acids are great for this as well as increasing heart health and brain power.
Don’t forget those green leafy vegetables as well as nuts and purple skinned fruits.
Alcohol in moderation can improve your HDL levels but it may not be the best choice.
Avoid sugar, refined foods and quit smoking if you want to increase your HDL and overall health. Many things that improves your health in general will also help your cholesterol levels.
Niacin is another option to increase HDL. So there are many ways to improve your cholesterol levels. A side benefit for you will be improved overall health as well.
